Hillhouse leads $27m Series B investment in HR solutions startup Moka

Chinese data-driven recruitment solutions provider Moka has completed a 180 million yuan Series B financing led by Hillhouse Capital.

GGV Capital, GSR Ventures and Xianghe Capital also participated in the round.

The startup said it will use the proceeds from the investment to recruit talent and boost product innovation and business development.

Founded in 2015, Moka provides end-to-end hiring services. It allows employers to post job listings across multiple platforms, uses AI to screen and recommend candidates and finally, helps recruiters plan interviews.

The company claims it had over 500 corporate customers, including Xiaomi, Sogou, Burger King, Arm China and China Pacific Insurance, at the end of 2018.

“The domestic economy has experienced rapid growth in the recent past. While business performance has improved, it has generally shown weak organisational capabilities. The reason behind this is largely because of the low digitisation and refined operation of human resources,” commented Moka founder Orion Zhao.

Moka, founded by former Berkeley and Facebook executives in 2015, currently employs more than 200 people. The company raised an undisclosed Series A round in June 2017 led by GGV Capital.
